Postby toggle » Wed Apr 13, 2005 2:07 pm

Hiya

I want to try surfing and since its my 18th Birthday July 29th I would like to go on a surfing holiday during that week.

But I need your help!

I will be going on my own, so im looking for a place that is good for beginners/teaching and somewhere i can hire equipment too. Also somewhere with a freindly enviroment, maybe like a surf camp with just beginers? I would also like to go somewhere not so busy preferbally..

any ideas?

I live in England if that helps

thanks for all your helP!

Whats the budjet?

France or Spain is always good if you want to go abroad. Authough I'd adive have a few sessions in this country first!

Prettymuch every beach area on the french and spanish coasts will have somwhere to hire equiptment.

Take a look at this also so you have an idea of what your going to be doing --> https://surfing-waves.com/beginners_ ... urfing.htm

Remeber Respect!

Have a look on the surfing abroad pages here if your thinking abroad... --> https://surfing-waves.com/surfing_vacation.htm
That can give you somthing to start with at least.

Through Spain and Portugal there is a far better mix of stand-up and bodyboarders, giving a overall mellow atmosphere in the water. The standerd is very high. As I said as long as you respect that your in their waters and stick to the 'unwritten rules' of surfing you'll be fine! if acidents do happen simple appoligise reckonising your error.

Pop to your local book store and have a look through the "Stormrider guide to Europe" lots of surfing info for france, spain and portugal as well as cultural info. Outlines the main spots and rates them ability wise.
Also www.wannasurf.com is another site to look into if your traveling.

£500-600 will be fine, you might even score some tidy accomidation but as you say your going at the busy time so its going to be packed! The sea will be too!
