Surfing spots around Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

I am going to Kona, Hawaii for a week around the 4th of July. I have been researching and am looking for an intermediate longboard break (1ft-4ft). I see Kahalu'u Beach might be a good spot to go to, but I wanted to see if anyone else has been to there or to other beaches near it. I also need to rent a longboard, so any recommendations on where to rent one would also be appreciated.
