Spring / Fall Hawaii swells

Postby Kulharin » Tue Aug 23, 2016 7:44 pm

I know, winter gets the big north swells, summer gets the big south swells... Is Spring or Fall I bad time to go then as in not much swell? Or is it good in that you get a mix of both north and south swells?

The north shore on Oahu is noted for it's ,huge winter swells and the south shore less so for it's huge summer swells. So if you want huge swells then it isn't the right time for Hawaii although there can be huge swells during fall and spring. Hawaii is made up of islands sits pretty much by itself in the middle of the Pacific ocean so weather anywhere around it anytime of the year will make swells that hit Hawaii somewhere. I have surfed some really nice tubing waves on the north shore during the summer. In a way it's better in the summer because less people in the water and the weather was nicer but the odds of getting a nice swell are far less.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.
