Ecuador/Peru or Costa Rica/Nicaragua

I'm planning on a trip to either Ecuador and Peru or Costa Rica and Nicaragua next summer. Im planning on surfing and backpacking around for about 5 weeks or so. My main goal is to get some decently uncrowded waves. Hope you guys could give me some advice on where to go?
