How is Fiji in Dec, Jan, Feb?

Hi guys,
i'm still trying to put it all together for my first surf trip.

Now, the guys from the perfect waves are saying that during australian summer, is off season in Fiji, therefore my friends and I could enjoy it with our longboards.
Do you think this is reasonable?
It's not a problem surfing the reef, as long as we dont have to face tubes and 4m waves...
Are they taking us for a ride? Let us pay and then watch the others have fun on crazy waves?

Or there are so many options that we can find our little spot and enjoy it while all the others are at cloudbreak?

Should we consider the Solomon instead? NewCaledonia?
Give up and come back in 5 years when we can ride tubes??
Just go to feed the crowd in Noosa and acept our misery of kook condition?

Thanks

The Aussie Christmas season is time to consider PNG's Nusa island resort, which is in New Britain, easy access from Queensland as the tours leave from brisvegas .
They are over reef. So booties but they are user friendly, it's is on my too do list,
The Solomons are variable there is also Vanimo on the north coast of New Guinea to consider.

Fiji off season means longer periods of unfavourable winds cruelling the surf.
Forget that except in peak times.
Back to PNG , the government limits numbers so it doesn't go like Bali so no crowds, just your resort crew!
Kook out, good news too, an assortment of lefts and rights, if I had to go over the Nov. Dec. Jan, Feb period I would choose it over most spots I know in Indo.

Noosa to Nusa sounds good to me!

Came to say the same thing as Jaffa - known a few people who have gone to Nusa and all rave - definitely longboardable breaks with a variety of more harder waves if thats your thing. And if you get tired/exhausted, great fishing is available.

only tip was to take your own coffee - they only serve instant.

on my list too.

Thank you guys.
Nusa sounds like the place to go. It just scares me a bit as I know nothign of PNG and don't want the trip to become an odissey.
But i'm very keen at this stage..
