Northumberland or Norfolk for beginners?

okay so we have got a couple of trips to Scarborough/Cayton Bay and South Devon booked now so I am looking further afield on the east coast for some holiday surf spots over the summer for myself, 9yo and 11yo - experienced bodyboarders but relatively new to "proper" surfing

I like Northumberland (Bamburgh beach looks good) but the kids fancy Norfolk (Sheringham?). Safe, consistent and relatively quiet surf would be ideal - any suggestions?

Not been to Sheringham. But I've been going to Cromer for the last two years. Pretty safe if you surf in front of the lifeguards during summer.

Norfolk is about as inconsistent as it gets over summer :(
You might get lucky and get some small windswell over the summer that can be surfed on a big foamie or a longboard. An incoming tide helps add a bit of push in that part of the world, so time your surfing right!

Northumberland is a bit more consistent over summer, but the surf is less suited for the kids/newbies at a lot of spots. Plenty of safe spots though, just not necessarily the top surf spots. Waters colder too
