Hi guys

I finally decided to go to Bali this August. To begin I will start in Kima Surfcamp as a refresher and to quickly get to know some nice spots. Afterwards I plan to stay a few more month alone in an apartment / surfer house.

Does anyone has some tips regarding good apartments/rooms, which are affordable and well located? I doesnt need to be too fancy as long its clean and safe. Do you think I need to book it in advance or is it ok just look/rent up on arrival?

Thanks for any help!

Regards
Chris

That is the height of high season....I would book now if possible. Otherwise you might have to live in a different area with a narrowed range of available conditions.

Thanks Big H. Isnt September already the end of highest high season? Also I dont know really where in Bali it would be good since I dont know yet the spots or areas I like. Shouldnt be too far from the spots but also not in the nowhere. Finally I have the feeling that the really good and cheap offers you just find on the streets and probably are not even in the internet. But I might be wrong.
Anyway can you recommend a good site to book? bookings.com? Or is there something more surfing related?

Good and cheap usually equals a dump, and the standard for a dump over here is considerably lower than a dump in western countries. Security might be an issue as well; some of the cheap rooms here are on shady alleys with cardboard esque doors; people are honest for the most part here (karma and all that) but temptation is temptation.........If you're up for adventure then give it a go, but your choices might be limited. June/July/August/September is IT when it comes to waves....Padang2 contest is on standby in August...they run it when the swells come thru....means a lot of extra people out on the bukit...Canggu is an option if you want to be close to surf but not isolated.

Thanks Big H.

I booked now M Suite Bali over bookings.com. Not too cheap but might be too far away from the beach. But good thing I can cancel up to 8 days before the reservation starts. Since I'll be there 3 weeks before I need this apartment (as I will be in a camp) I still can check it out and in worst case, book something else.

Cheers!
