Hello world,
Was wondering the scoop on traveling to sinaloa, mex. Is it safe for me and my gal. How would one recomend she and I travel to remain off the radar.
Also, was wondering if ,southern hemi, southwest swell is what im looking for while hunting surf in this region.

Only stayed there once. We stayed at a surf camp called "Sinaloa Surf Adventures" pretty rustic but affordable, almost all inclusive. we were picked up at the airport and taken to uncrowded, long point breaks everyday by boat. Tasty food.
Yeah south swell is what you need.
Couldn't tell you how safe it is otherwise.

Can you speak Spanish? I've always stuck around Baja and the Sea of Cortez. Can you speak Spanish? My opinion is that it is about 85% safer, if you can communicate in the language of the natives. It goes a long way toward generating goodwill.

We drive down to baja all the time from California - and have even driven all the way to cabo. Sinaloa has a repuatation for sure - while I do speak spanish - I find that if you don't put yourself in tricky situations in MEX everything checks out OK - the long boat ride empties may be worth it.

Yeah, that's important. I talked to a guy who got thrown in jail for urinating against a wall. Another guy I talked to kicked his way out of a police van and ran into the desert. The Federales brought out dune buggies with search liights to find him and he had to bury himself next to a bush to elude them. My parents own a beach shack
down in Mexico so that's where I hear these stories. Most of the people I know who got into trouble were hanging out in a notorious bar in town. If you go to places like that, then you better be prepared to possibly be picked up for just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. If you want to avoid problems, I recommend steering clear of the frat boys raising hell.

Can you speak Spanish, if so no problem. Its relatively like going anywhere else in Mexico. If you go to Mexico now there's no problem there, it's the same. Just further south.

You are missing the point! The swells that hit the points are Southern Hemisphere generated south swells, Mexico hasn't moved , earthquakes or not
