Canggu / Oldmans Board hire!?

Hello to the Bali regulars and residents.

I am heading over at the end of September for 10days or so to Canggu, staying at the Chillhouse.
I am thinking of bringing my Fish but concerned over bringing my Log due to obvious airline handlers!

Do you know of any decent board hire companies in the area?

Thanks in advance!

BB

They have plenty of bigger boards there, from mini Mals to lighter, modern rockered, thruster longboards to full on single fin logs. The fellas get there before dawn; you can choose, wax and pay for your rental in the dark starting at about 05:45 so that isn't an issue.....I see a lot of broken leashes with the rentals though so maybe think about brining your own longboard leash....it's a long swim back from that break.

Just did a bit of research. I didn't realise Canggu was a reef break, I have been looking at longboarding the beach there...Old Mans is it?
What's it like? It's not actually on here as a break!

Cheers! Love the new board!

I've never rented but I've heard prices anywhere from Rp50,0000-100,000 for 2-3hrs depending on the board, person asking, time of day, day of the week, season, etc. In any case, it's reasonable and the boards are decent; there are regulars I'm familiar with who only surf rentals there; whether it's because they don't have a longboard or it's a hassle to transport I don't know but they seem happy to rent the boards there which bodes well.

There are several breaks with multiple peaks that stretch from Berawa beach in the south to Pererenan in the north....all are relatively longboard friendly dependent on the swell and the chosen peak....the board rentals I pictured are in the parking lot of Old Man's / Batu Bolong which really attract the longboard set; it's a lava reef break but deep enough that I've never touched bottom on the outside sections....if you manage to connect to the inside you can hit rock on a lower tide if you try hard, but it is a relatively deep break overall and friendly for wipeouts.

Hope this helps!

You sir are a GREAT help and I owe a drink to if you are in the vicinity when I am over!

Thank you SO much for the advice, it seems rather hard to gather this kind of information through trip advisor etc!

Loving the sound of Old Mans!

I dont want to spoil ur enthusiasm but there is also a serious downside to that area: it is crowded. Also there is a lack of etiquette due to the many beginners.

At Oldmans the peak is often blocked by local coaches with their students on softtops. U need a pumping set to get some space.

Yeah, I am prepared for busy, it is Bali after all, but having Manly Beach, Sydney as my home break for nearly 2 years, I am pretty used to it.
Plus, my girlfriend will probably be one of those beginners!
