holiday for the wife and kids surf for me

Postby K10 » Fri Jun 26, 2015 7:45 am

Hi everyone,
I'm new on here so forgive me if this has been asked before. I want to get away some where hot the first week of summer holidays. Me the wife and my two girls 10 and 8. Where's a good place to go where I can sneak a surf in and get the girls surfing. Needs to be a nice hotel/apartment for the wife.
Any body got any ideas. Was thinking Portugal or Canary Islands, but I have no idea which resorts are best for just walking down to the beach. I won't be taking my boards so will need to rent boards and wetsuits.
Thanks for any help dudes.

hi
ive tried tenerife, kids had a great time with the water parks and activities, beaches aren't that great though, but there are a few surf shops around, and some decent surf.
temps are fine, 24-30 most days, good pubs etc.
would recommend k16 for a surf shop/ school, had a good laugh with them.

stayed near playa de las americas, and surfed at the beach there.
theres a surf school on the beach, and also k16 just down a side street from there, can't miss them :-)
makes sure you wear boots though, is a lot of reefs, and they sting when you step on them:-)

Hi,
If you still thinking in Portugal, Ericeira is a very good option. Is a traditional fishing village, near from Sintra and Mafra where you can go on cultural city visits and a World Surfing Reserve with plenty of good spots to surf and learn how to do it. <edit>

All the best and good waves!
