Portugal, Lagos, beginner surf camp recommendations??

Postby Jester » Thu Jan 29, 2015 11:41 pm

So I'm thinking of taking a week in the sun around April to Portugal. No plans set in stone yet. Would love to do a surf camp to get a bit of concentrated water time.

This is just a general query. Anyone had any good/bad experiences of Lagos, this time of year or tips you wanna share, places you could recommend? Am very open to date changes and even location (was also looking at peniche)

I'm a beginner that can go down the line and am playing with turns but still very very much a beginner. Any info greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. Peace.

As far as I'm told, the south coast doesn't get consistent waves. Most of the time it is flat or just mushy waves. You're better off the west coast. Ericeira and Peniche is both great locations.

Yes, I went to Peniche twice because everything seems to be perfect there. The weather, food, and surf. Cheap holiday too!

Lagos is a great place, but you should have the car for moving to the surf spots of the west coast as Amado, Bordeira, Arrifana ecc.. (about 25-30 minutes by car)

<edit>

Enjoy your trip :)
