Surf Schools Tenerife/Canaries?

Hey,

A friend and I want to pick up surfing finally and are planning a trip to the canaries. Since we also longboard and Tenerife seems to have some sick roads for that we may decide for that, or maybe another of the Canary Islands. Finding it a bit difficult to tell which schools are good on Tenerife I was wondering if anyone here knows a good place and is willing to share that information

As an improving novice I had a great week at Surf School Lanzarote with Tim Jones who seems to be a very experienced coach who really cares about your progress, it was fairly individualised whilst hammering the basics. Good luck!

I'm off to Fuerteventura soon, so I'm asking the same question. I'll be in Corralejo so getting to Lanzarote is no problem, just a quick ferry ride, unless there's a decent Surf School on Fuerte' that anyone knows of?

i used k16 surf school a couple of years back, pretty good fun, based in Playa de las americas. Good instructors, took their time, and pretty close to the surf.
Only thing i didnt like was the shallow water over the reef... 2 hours after being cut i was still dripping blood:-)

Been and returned from Fuerta'. Found a couple of good surf schools in Corralejo. One in particular (Protest surf), located on the outskirts of Corralejo, very good. they'll transport you to wherever the best surf is on the day, and if it's flat, they'll tell you and won't take you out, telling you that you'd be wasting your time and money (very ethical, I like that!!)
Went into the Big Kahuna surf shop, and whilst there gave them my card, immediately the bossman invites me to meet Christian, his Former/Shaper (whom he keeps in the cellar.....No, I'm not kidding!!) I was made to feel most welcome and invited back anytime I'm in Fuertaventura.
All in all, I had a few great days out on the waves, opting for a 5'9'' Alia from the school quiver (as you know by now, I'm a Trad' Purist and would choose wood over foam any day) and I can honestly say that it sorts out the men from the boys.
As I'm not as nimble as I used to be, I found popping up from wood a bit of an issue (the board kept sinking away from me!) but got to the point where I could pop up to a one legged kneeling position and then climb up to standing thereafter.
Suffice to say that I'm inspired and the next thing that Grampy Teds Surf Shed churns out is going to be an Alia board!!

Any good places to stay in Corralejo, thinking of taking the wife and kids.

Sorry i took so long to get back to you, hope it's not too late.
can't remember the name of the actual place i stayed at, but Corralejo is resort-land, so there's a ton of good places to find accomodation. the further out from the centre/strip the cheaper the places tend to be, and, of course, you'd be closer to the dunes and beaches.
check out "The Big Kahuna" surf shop/school. the guy who runs it, Elimiano, is a great bloke and knows all the best spots to catch the waves, especially those places where the bigger surf schools don't tend to go to. Give him my regards
