Early april Surf Suggestions

Postby JoeFlow » Thu Dec 18, 2014 4:14 pm

Good Evening,

Seen a lot of forum posts about surfing in April but could´t really find what I´m looking for.
Going with my gf for a 2,5 week trip and we are both beginners. Traveling out of Europe very end of March.

Experience: 10 days in Costa Rica last April(beach surf in Santa Teresa). Managed to surf some green ones the last days but no turns.

Looking for something similar in Asia(or whatever you suggest) and preferable a surf camp with nice lodging. Nice waves, not crowdy and preferable sand bottom. Looking for something upscale but not really 300 USD pp a day.

Merry Christmas

East coast Australia is fantastic around April. Warm, some swell etc. not sure if that is what you are looking for, but Byron Bay and surrounds.

Otherwise, or perhaps even better, Sri Lanka.

Hi,
Out of Europe, you would get the end of Saison Swells in Morocco and the Canary Islands but it does get windy there from April onwards.
Sri Lanka is an ok option - South Coast - again end of Season.
Would actually recommend the Cape Verde islands - 6 hours flight from Europe, all sandy beaches and warm water all year round.
Bali for Beginners isn't my cup of tea but plenty of people have fun there - all Euro surfers learning....
Then if you are adventurous and so inclined, there is Senegal which is a new frontier in surfing but has great waves.
Depends of what you want from your holiday...
And of course, Australia is always an option but from Europe very far for 2.5 weeks and expensive to boot. Cheaper option closer to Europe...
