Advice for getting to surf spots in Costa Rica

Spending a week at Playa Coco in Guanacaste, end of February. would it be better to pre-book a boat to Witches Rock / Ollie's point, or negotiate one once I'm there? Any day trip providers to recommend / avoid?

Secondly anyone know of any surfable spots close by? Playa Negro looks nice, but I understand it's about an hour and a half away.

First trip there so of course I would welcome any other tips.

Thanks

I would suggest you to negotiate once there, there is plenty of companies offering trips in Guanacaste, specially in Tamarindo.

Thanks, I think I'll take your advice. My friend says the same thing.

You might check with the crew over at Robert August in Tamarindo. It seems to me they offer several packages and are reputable. On a side note, the on site restaurant/bar make delicious fish tacos.

Have fun.
