Anyone surfed in Punta Mita, Mexico?

So I was told by a guy who lived in Hawaii that his favorite surfing spot was Punta Mita in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. He said that you take a boat trip to where the Fourth Seasons is (I think) and you have a long right that goes forever at slow speed super fun and all for yourself.

I went there a month ago and the surf report said the waves were too small. I tried to get a boat trip and it was between $50 - $120 for a 5 minute boat trip, the boat owners really went off the roof with these stupid prices, I don't think somebody actually buys them.

Anyways, I ended up walking to the point, it was a 40 minute walk but I broke my sandal and it was a total scary mess, don't do it! don't go alone! bring hard shoes and water! Long story short: I panicked and told the people at Four Seasons that I was going to attack them if they didn't take me to the entrance or let me pass, which they eventually did. I did it because I thought it was going to take me 3 hours of hell to walk back with no sandals and in pain.

And the waves were barely breaking.

Then I heard from other people that the wave at the point in Punta Mita is not very consistent. I have tried Sayulita many many times and it is very consistent except that it's crowded and noobs.

But I'm going to live in Vallarta in about a week, I'm gonna live there for 4 months. So any recommendation? anybody been to that point when it's firing? is it worth the walk?

I have surfed there. It's fickle indeed, only doable on high tide. Long walk indeed.
You can also pay for a water taxi from Anclote and they take you there and back.

Punta Burros and La Lancha are easier to get to and pretty consistent on south swells

Have fun
