Jack sadly I think you left your resource run a little late.
The Andamans are very much a surfing frontier and there is virtually no supplies of anything connected to surfing anywhere near. Even Chennai is highly unlikely to produce surf goods.
Lots of the Andamans are a no go zone due to Indian military bases and protection areas for wildlife and "Indigenous" tribes.
Access to most surf zones is by boat a bit like the Mentawais
I googled this;
http://surfsleeptravel.com/blog/2013/06 ... pot-guide/ Most trips on offer were boat cruises and there is a new camp, none of them seemed to have surfboards available, the camp information for the camp on little Andaman Island is fairly poor but they offer a surf school so I would imagine they have surfboards.
If you want to be a frontier surfer , the first thing you need to do is make yourself self surficient ( deliberate spelling or pun).
Unless you are very lucky, a probable fail
Leaving your planning until a week out will just about ensure this.
I hope I'm severely wrong here because misplanning has sometimes led to great adventure.
By the way there are some really good surf spots, as good as many in the Mentawais.
I hope you score them and have a board and the ability to go for it!
