Hi Guys,
I'm camping at Lake Casitas this weekend which I realized was 10 mins away from the famous Rincon! I looked at the surf reports and it looks flat as a _____________ (fill in for me please). Pretty bummed. Any tips on where to go this time of year up there? There has to be surf somewhere right? Thanks guys!

torrancesurfer,
The Channel Islands block a lot of swell from reaching Santa Barbara and northern Ventura Counties. The best and nearly only surf in Santa Barbara occurs in Winter. Some years we have surf extending into Spring. We rarely have surf in Summer. It picks back up in late Fall.
Rincon, located in northern Ventura County, has surf inconsistent surf in the Summer. When there is surf there during Summer, it is small.

too funny!!
It's been progressively flatter since Summer has worn on. So, I'm "in training." Doing lots of exercises on land, sometimes with weights, and running with my big dog. Dreaming about Winter waves. In fact, my 15 year old nephew will come from Germany for two weeks at Christmas expressly to learn how to surf.
