I'm getting lost with all the information, is there a thread someone can point me to for good information on best times to go for spots to go in south america or the carribbean for a first time surfing attempt?

There is a heap of surf schools around, do you want to party afterwards and stuff like that would narrow the field.

I suggest googling surf school in areas you might want to go and them put up your almost choices for comment.
