hi,

newbie here.

i want to take my girlfriend (big surfer) to Ericeira in portugal for a few days next year as a suprise for her birthday.

now i considered doing the whole rent a van, rent boards and cruise up the coast - presumed it would a lot cheaper, or should i go for a package sort of deal? - week might be pushin it as we'd be leaving our little girl with grandparents.

all help appreciated,

cheers!!

Hi, mrlapes

Ericeira is a good option.
In 8km of coast line you'll find the best, most consistent and different types of waves.
You can access everything in Ericeira: surf gear rentals, surf lessons, surf guides, surf tours etc.
People are friendly, and in weak days it is not crowded at all.
You can easily find cheap accommodation if it is not hi season.
The food is also very good.
