I was looking at the info about surfing in Thailand and am dying to go but am hurting for cash. Does anyone know how much it would cost to stay there for about a month? I’ve heard there are little huts by the beach that barely cost anything. If I could only scrape up enough for the flight...

The great thing about Thailand is that your money goes really, really far there. If you don’t mind roughing it a bit you can get by on hardly any money. When I was there (about two years ago) you could easily find places to stay for $3 per night. And the food is fantastic and dirt cheap. Not that any of that really matters, it’s all about the waves, right? As for the flight, if you’re in school you can get great deals at StudentUniverse.

Thailand is amazing - spent 3 to 4 months there beforew i went to uni. It is dirt cheap, me and my girlfriend spent about £2000 in 3 to 4 months and was doing averything we could, diving, rock climbing, bungee jumping etc, and picked up loads of souvineers. We stayed in beach shack with a double bed, cold water and a fan, on koh pan yang for £5 per night. We pretty much had a 5 km stretch of beach to ourselves, it was great. Get a lonely planet guide - it will be invaluable. Must admit i went there before i started surfing, but didnt notice much surf whilst i was there. Also i have heard there are some clashes between muslim etremista dn the government out there at the moment.
