Where To Go In October?

Hey, guys. I have a chance to go anywhere I want (within reason. Nothing ridiculously expensive) in October. Where do you guys suggest?

Warm water is a must, not willing to wear a wet suit. I don't want any huge waves but nothing weak & small, preferably a few feet over head max. Clear water & snorkeling near is a plus. Preferably the waters shouldn't be shark infested.

I've been thinking one of the Hawian islands, but it seems like the waves would be pretty large most places then. Sharp coral reefs + big waves make me a bit edgy. :P

Thoughts?

Change of plans, probably going in early September. Are there any good waves on any of the Hawaii islands then? I'd think the South Shore would be pretty small & the North Shore wouldn't have any swell.

How would Turtle Bay be then?

Yet another change of plans. :p

Dead set on the Jaco area (will be surfing Playa Hermosa) IF the waves are a good size in November. Anybody have experience with what the average wave height is then?

Indonesia somewhere like the playgrounds area in the Mentawais. there are a range of boats and a range of camps, that access at least 25 breaks covering death slabs to suitable mellower breaks often on the same day.
Bit of a trek to get there and the camps vary in price and facillities but super consistent of good surf at the level you would like. :D

November is the end of the rainy season in Costa Rica, which is the most consistent time for surf. Expect head high.

I await your next change of plans eagerly

Thanks.

Is Play Hermosa North or Playa Hermosa South the beach nearest to Jaco? They both have greatly different surf reports on Surfline (4ft to 10 ft). I searched around & couldn't find anything.

Thanks.

Looking at the map, I'd assume that Playa Hermosa North would be nearest Jaco.

What are y'all opinions on shipping my board from San Diego to Costa Rica? Any way I could do it for a fair bit cheaper then what AA charges to take boards with you ($150 ONE WAY for one board. Simply ridiculous)?

Thailand beaches are suitable place for proper and doing surfing at big waves. Bangkok beach is famous among tourist for surfing or for get to gather with family members. Pure water, white smooth sand and beautiful views.

I hit up Bali one year in November (close enough, right) and it was pretty awesome. Good waves and good weather. These guys have a whole bunch of awesome surf spots at really good deals! Check them out! url removed

Booked my plane tickets to San Juan. I'll be taking a car to Jaco and staying there. Will be mostly surfing the Playa Hermosa area.

Going the 8th to the 12th (traveling on the 8th, surfing the 9th, 10th & 11th, going home on the 12th). Not as long as I wanted to, but have too much stuff I would miss if I stayed longer then that. Going to be renting a board down there as it's too expensive to bring my board down.

This is gonna be my first time surfing outside of California. Excited. :D

Depends where you are going and what you are expecting.
