Hi guys,

going to Bali with non surfng gf, first time for both of us, we'll spend a total of 16 nights there, first few nights in Seminyak, then Jimbaram, then Ubud, then we dont know yet.

Is there any surfshop you'd recommend in particular to buy a used board? or are they all the same? i bought the Indo SUrf&Lingo book, so there are many advertised surfshops there.
Also, can you find used DIverse surfboards over there?

any tip you feel to share is appreciated! to be honest, I saw the latest swell arrived there, and being a post novice surfer I am a bit scared by those monsters...
thanks a lot in advance!

The Indo Surf and Lingo Guide is a really good guide to have all the surf shops usually give a discount when you buy and mention the guide and there are some vouchers in the book! Use them. There is the full range of boards available at most spots and some learner boards on the beaches.

As to finding used Diverse boards there it's possible but luck is needed. Dreamland, Bingin and some parts of Kuta beach can be beginner friendly.
Ulus and Padang Padang take your A game, head up if you have the time to Medewi it can be a little less hectic and more laid back.

Ubud is great for getting the soul of Bali make sure to see Barong dance , Kecak Monkey Dance and the Horse trance dance.

Have fun and bargain respectfully it is entirely different there to where you are coming from.SMILE ALL THE WHILE :D :D :D :D :D

Hi there, I am going to Bali this coming July for the month and was wondering how you got on in the end? I am a fairly adequate surfer (used to head to head and a half but on sandy bottoms) and am not massively keen to pursue triple overheard on sharp coral!

I am also travelling with my non-surfer girlfriend so would be great to know of some places that were gf friendly and perhaps with some more relaxed but consistent waves (I am sure there will be a lot of people seeking the same thing of course!)

I am also planning to buy a used board on arrival, so would definitely appreciate hearing your experience of this.

Cheers
