Hey folks - just joined this forum today as I want to learn to surf. I'm living in Sheffield, UK, for anyone not knowing England, that's pretty much in the middle. (slightly nearer the East). Has anyone got any tips for me to digest at this stage? Any ideas of the best place to learn etc....
Cheers
Pete

Hi Pete
I think Scarborough's your best bet, a couple of hours from Sheffield. Steve at Fluid Concept is a top guy.
Once you've had a few lessons and caught the bug you'll end up travelling all over the place to try different breaks!

Ummm.. don't ask, I'm far from proficient! I'm not exactly naturally gifted when it comes to sports though! I suppose it depends on your definition of proficient! After a couple of lessons I could stand up in the white water and after a few months of regular surfing I was getting up most of the time and enjoying some long white water rides. It took me a while to catch unbroken waves though, but I don't have much paddle strength.

Ok cheers Zebroo - nevertheless, it sounds like you enjoy it..I've just checked the fluid concept shop and the lessons sound decent.
