Surf In Dubai

Postby Makka » Fri Dec 30, 2011 1:52 pm

So it's looking likely that I'll be in Dubai during mid March & would love to get a surf in if possible.

I'm sure I saw somewhere that Dubai can get waves, this likely to occur in March or am I out of season?

Board rental even possible? as I won't be taking mine on the trip!

Any advice muchio appreciated!

I surfed Dubai once, in march i believe, didn't take a board, but ran into a girl on the beach and just borrowed hers. lucky i guess. The swell was small, like less than 1/2m, could have been yacht wakes i was riding...but it was a surf. There must be surf rentals there somewhere, and swells do come down the Persian gulf with trade NW winds that create up to 2m surf, so it happens. Look at http://www.windguru.com and they will give you a good forecast to know when the waves will arrive, and you need to know, cause it's here one day and gone the next usually. I am not sure about season. Good luck. definitely do the indoor snowboarding...that was classic.
