I'm planning a trip to Biarritz near the end of October, how will the surf be around then?

Or would Figueira da Foz in Portugal be better? Looking for something with decent size, reliable surf...

i will be taking a trip to Fuerteventura mid october.. you have solid swell all round the year, but uniformly october was pinned as the best month to go to Fuerte.. first winters-swells are coming in, water is still 23° warm, sun, fewer wind than in winter...
pretty much a winner throughout...
in france and portugal the surf will be roughly the same as in fuerte, as its the same fetch and the same waves...
fuerte is just further south, so its warmer, the waves are bigger and better organised and the weather is better (october is well into autumn in most mid/west-european countries..

Best season to surf Biarritz and Hossegor are certainly September and October

Yeah definately Sept into Oct is best for France. I used to go every year for 6 years or so, but went in August to catch some rays aswell as a little swell, ended up going in Oct after that and never regretted it. Less people in the water and a lot more swell to be had.. :P
