Beginner here. First time I went surfing was in Ericeira, where the waves were 6 foot every day of my holiday. I would like something similar, or at least somewhere reliable, where I can rent a surfboard, where the locals aren't pissy, and where there are beaches without coral/rock bottoms.
I'll be going for a week; don't have a driving license.
Thanks!

Always advise Ericeira ... is the world's best place for surfing. It has good teachers, there is accommodation along the beaches, it is not expensive, has good food, rent surf good material in many places. There are beaches at Ericeira without rocks or coral ... I can give you some contacts where you stay. rent an apartment for 15 days with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, costs you € 550. call this number +351917643153 John Gomes

You won't go far wrong with Peniche either. Also much better chance of offshores, due to it being a peninsula. My favorite place in Portugal. I lived down near lisbon for 2 years and the waves up there are awesome

I agree, Ericeira is a good choice, not too much hassle, otherwise Sagres.

The large island of Crete is a highly popular tourist destination, with landscapes varying from great sandy palm beaches to snow-covered high peaks and stunning river gorges and a good deal of night life in its main tourist towns. If you're looking to party at night, lovely Mykonos or Ios are good options too.
If you want travel to Johannesburg from London just visit for cheap flight tickets
