Hi there
I've been planning to go on a surftrip this fall though I don't know where. I was a week down in biarritz at a surfcamp and are still a rookie. I'd love to develop my surfing and thinking of going around the european west coast. Anyone got some nice spots or good surfcamps to share? It doesn't have to be europe, im open for anything good, it just felt cheaper cause I live in sweden.
So im looking for the best beginners surf at a minimum cost

France, Spain, Portugal could all get very good swell that time of year, hurricanes. Morocco is always a nice option as well for you in Europe!

Hi Borgen,

How about the Dominican Republic. The DR is the last budget travel country in the caribbean (apart from Haiti maybe). The winter time is the surfseason here and that's when spots get consitent here. The most consitent spot is Playa Encuentro next to the nice town of Cabarete. Even in winter it's still warm enough to surf just in boardshorts. It's good for all levels of surfers as the waves do not get too big and the are some peaks spread out which make the swell break in different sizes. Apart from surfing Cabarete has also a lot to offer such as a decent assortment of nice restaurants, a little bit of nightlife, beautiful beaches, waterfalls etc.

I'm running a small boutique hotel right at Playa Encuentro, so the surf is right on the doorstep and we have a nice garden where you can relax and sunbath. If you are interested just have a look at our website www.hookedcabarete.com. We mainly do get other surfers and kitesurfers, so it's easy to meet nice people here if you like.

If you have any further questions, regardless wether you want to stay with us or not, just let me know.

Aloha
Nino

Always advise Ericeira - Portugal... is the world's best place for surfing. It has good teachers, there is accommodation along the beaches, it is not expensive, has good food, rent surf good material in many places. There are beaches at Ericeira without rocks or coral ... I can give you some contacts where you stay. rent an apartment for 15 days with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, costs you € 550. call this number +351917643153 John Gomes
