Hi, I´m new in the Forum...well I was here about a year or two ago but my account was de-activated.

I am going to Indo in a month (15th Aug - 10th Sept) travelling by myself, and I´d like to visit the MEntawais, for a week or two. Strictly land-based (I can´t stand sleeping on water), I have an intermediate level (16 years surfing but not fit at the moment), goofy footer, Spanish-English bilingual.

Ive done my homework asking around and online research, I could not find budget accommodation in Mentawai until I found this:
http://www.freelinesurf.com.au/Mentawai ... mestay.pdf

has anyone tried it?

I would need 3 more mates to join me and then it would be really cheap: 660$ per person for 9-10 nights, I am flexible with dates, If anyone is interested pls email me ASAP: spanishsurfero@gmail.com

CHeers,

Principe

Hola Principe, you'll have a great time, Beng bengs and ebay were my favourite lefts on your island and if you want a couple of other try John Candies (also known as A Frames) don't know the resort but it should be fairly basic and adequate I often saw their boats (High grade canoe speed boats around when we shared breaks. Should be fun I had 20 of the best days surfing in my life.

What I enjoyed and what you can look forward to.

And then hope you get a map like this

Yep it's a bigger day at Bengbengs.

Other lefts that are not secret are Hideaways, a shallow cheese grater coral reef set up and of course if you have the Cajones ( I didn't and fortunately it wasn't on) for it Kandui itself.. Search for the spot McDonalds as well and theis particular one has no carbhydrates.

Haha!, I´ll have to test my Cojones and see what´s on once I´m there.

Okay, so I found a new mate based in Australia, we are going for a slightly more expensive option: $1070 per person plus ferries from Padang. 1st to 9th of september, all included. It´s still a bloody good deal!!

any more people interested?

I wish I could join you. I bet it will be as fun after you are out of the water as when you are in it. There is a place to upload photos on this site, I would love to see some. Thanks.
