Hey all,
I'm heading over to Nusa Dua, staying in the Club Med resort Oct (not cashed up - we got a good deal) and I'll probably surf the break right in front when the tide comes in.
The info I can't get is where I can get a board to hire. I surf a 9 footer at home, and there is no way I can lug that with me for the trip. I was thinking of taking my 6'10" fish, but I really just wanna get a board while I'm there because they usually make us get two taxis, one for the family and one for me and board.
So, to the questions. Anyone know of board hire places in Nusa Dua near Club Med, and second question, there must some cruzy longboard breaks near there - any hints on where to go please?

Hi psam , October is get towards the end of the season for the west coast, usually during that time the Nusa Dua side is onshore and as you say very tide dependent. But change of season is close and maybe some wet season conditions might sneak through for you stay on the east coast. There will certainly be board hire available on the beaches there and and Sanur, there is also a Surftech board hire shop in Bali but I'm not sure where,I do know it has a good range and boards in better condition than the beach hires but of course pricier.
If you can get across to dreamland area and a long expedition to Medewi up the west coast. The surf in front of club med can be gnarly with strong currents and surprising size changes.
A day trip to Nusa Lembongan might be an option, Playgrounds, Shipwrecks and maybe Cennigans, there's a club Med On Nusa Lembongan too.

Hey thanks for the heads up about the surprising size changes, thats what I need to know mostly. Much appreciated. I think I will do as you said and drive around to Playgrounds, Shipwrecks etc. Thanks again. (oh Playgrounds is on an island? Hmm.. boat trip out that way???) Guess I'll try Sanur if the break out the front is too dangerous.

There is a day ferry to Nusa Lembongan from Benoa harbour Bemo from hotel in the morning you'll find board hire easily and that would work out, haven't been to the island for a couple of years but I know it's more developed and maybe there is a board hire on the island.
good luck

For longboards, definitly go to rentasurfboard.com, online or at the shop in Kuta.
