Hey everyone, I'm planning to surf the world's longest left in Peru next month but would love some help! First of all, how do I get from Lima to Chicama? Based on my last minute research, I'd have to catch a flight from Lima to Trujillo, then a bus from Trujillo to Puerto Malabrigo. Does that sound right to anyone? Also, can anyone recommend an adequately clean and cheap place to stay, hopefully within walking distance to Chicama? Thanks for the help!

Hey Waveslavedave,

Looks like you are correct on getting there. Here's what I just found on the Chicama hotel website:

"Most international flights arrive to Lima at night. You should plan to stay overnight at the airport or at a city hotel and to take one of the early morning flights to Trujillo. Should you require it, we can provide you transfers from the Trujillo airport to the hotel. The trip takes around 45 minutes."

I've heard there are cheap places to stay there on the beach but have never found any. The Chicama Surf Hotel is defintely the most luxurious option, they have an incredible setup. It's a little more than a hundred bucks a night or so. You can visit their site for more info.
Hope that helps, and have fun down there.

from lima you can take an over night bus, leaves at 10pm and arrives at trujillo at 7am, from there take a taxi to the bus terminal that takes to puerto malabrigo(that's the name of the town, the break is chicama, but be carefull that there's another town called chicama a little further away)anyway, from trujillo is 2 and a half hours to the last stop in puerto malabrigo, once you're there walk 1 block to the beach, then walk to the left, up the hill you'll see several places where you could stay, all in front of the break. don't wander too far off from this area though
