Hey Dan...

I just came back from a two-week surf trip from Fuerte...
well first of all, it was such a blast... if you arange yourself good, you can have such a good time...

well, on Fuerte there are breaks for every level... most of the propper (and therefor mainly reefs) breaks are all along the north shore and its dirt track... if you drive along the north shore, you will see one break after the other... there is one spot (rocky point) which is within walking distance of the center of corallejo.. the disadvantage however is, on good days, everyone without the means of a car will herd in that spot...

if you want to surf the north shore, you will have to get yourself means of transportation or join one of the many surf schools for a surfari/spot guiding... most of em have 4x4 which will allow them to get to any spot on the rocky northern coast.. i dont think there are any companys who just drive ppl to the spots....

and you might want to consider to rent a bit of a smaller board (or take one with you) since the north shore provides 3 - 9 foot breaks all year round... i dunno if a 9.1 might be a bit big, i used a 7.10 the last time and it was way enough.... ill go smaller on my next trip in october....

You can go for 'surf taxi' option with Liquid Surfschool (www.liquid-surfschool.com). It's €20 per day and you get to go to the best beaches/reefs in 4x4s (there's lots of offroad here to get to the best spots), with advice from a surf guide and some help against any localism!
