I'm leaving for aus in a matter of weeks, its for my gap year travels which i have left rather last minute but im happy with my idea of aus, got a working visa all sorted and im looking to set up there for about 5 months, ideally i want to set up in one place and really settle there, at the moment the plan is perth but am i making a wrong move? should i be heading to sydney, brisbane or elsewhere? Im looking for consistent surf mainly but ideal would be a spot with lots of different surf spots in close proximity.

Obviously surf is at the top of the importance list but im also looking for a city which fun and pumping with a friendly scene and possibilty for jobs, bar work stuff like that.

and on a side note if anyone is looking for some to apartment share with, Im game. Im 19yo, male, im tidy and all that jazz but more importantly, im looking for somewhere to sleep.

Thanks guys, any help whatsoever, much appreciated.

Forget Brisbane. No surf. Ditto Melbourne. Both within an hour or so of surf, but you want it right on your doorstep.
Perth has got breaks, but again you need to travel a little to find proper surf.

If you want proper surf, and a proper city, then Sydney is your best choice, with world class breaks right there. Prepare for crowds though.

Bar work is a lot more competitive than you'd imagine (particularly for a guy) so dont depend on that too much.
