Surfing in Polzeath

I believe that for beginners, Polzeath, Cornwall, has got to be one of the best places to start to learn surfing. The waves can be pretty small (About 4 foot) and quite often you'll get a load of 10-15 foot ones. It is seriously a great place to surf.

I learnt to surf there when i was about 8, and i could cope with those waves pretty quickly! I don't know any beginners that wouldn't be able to ride a 4 foot though, they're not that bad!

sounds like you're underestimating your wave size there. I dont know any begginners who be able to handle solid 4 ft. And at Polzeath that would be when it starts to take a while to get out back. I do agree with you that its a great place to learn but once it gets a bit bigger its a mission to get out. I doubt it would hold 15ft there either. and if it did i doubt anyone would be out. They'd be somewhere easier to paddle out.

Polzeath's waves are 1.8ft-8ft I learnt to surf in Polzy and it is relitavely easy, I've surfed when it's next to flat and when they are absolute corkers! August bank holiday weekend this year-on the friday they were awesome, by monday they weren't worth coming out of the valley site for. :D

Oh yeah, and did you know that David Cameron, Dave as we now call him, was bodyboarding at polzeath late august this year, my dad caught a wave with him! I was being a hardcore surfer and was out to sea, oblivious, but he was there!

No one can be sure of that, but Polzy's rating is 1.8-8 ft. We spoke to the lifeguards about this, I've been going to Polzeath all of my life, I've never known them to be awfully large or flat.
