Surfing Waves

Hi guys, Surfed rivermouth beach today and it was awesome. It was breaking 2-3 foot with the rare bigger set. My question is does it break like this all the time or is this a freak occurence. I'm a high beginner/ low intermediate surfer who had to stop surfing regularly for 10 months. Thanks would really appreciate some advice. Just moved to WA and really want to surf the southwest. Also, does smith have a beachie or do u have to take the reef and what conditions favor it? Thanks again.

apologies for not giving a totally straight answer, Im from the U.S x)
Ive done lots of reading about aussie surfing, and ive read that the Margaret river beaches are some of the highest quality waves in australia. If im terribly wrong, feel free to correct me. But yea, i looked up good surf spots in WA and that was the first to come up. So I imagine it is around those conditions all the time.

Ya, heaps of good beaches in Margaret river. Thing is most of the breaks are reefs and points and it doesn't help that the swells are generally huge in winter (15 foot is common). So it's a bit hard for someone at my skill level. haha! I'm such a kook! You should come over and check it out. Me and the missus are planning a california surf trip for the future.
