Best place in Hawaii to learn on the short board?

Postby Johnny Doo Wop » Wed Oct 20, 2010 1:54 am

I want to go to Hawaii from January through April to learn to surf a short board. I started out last year surfing a 9' longboard, then I went down to 7'2 fun board, and now I'm really bored with that and want to learn to ride a short board. I need waves that aren't to big or heavy and with no sharp reefs since I'll probably be falling a lot and still don't feel too comfortable in my paddling out abilities in heavy surf. But I also need waves steep and powerful enough to catch with a short board. What Island should I go to? What breaks should I surf?
