hey guys. i'm planning a surf trip for 2 weeks in early Jan. what do you guys recommend for consistent waves and at a budget cost? $1500 to AU is way above budget. i was thinking costa rica but the plan tickets for that time are still around $1k.

any recommendations you guys have?

also, if there are other activities such as scuba diving, night life etc. that's an added plus (not required however)

thanks in advance!

you can get pretty cheap flights to mexico, pacific coast is great for surfing and cheaper than the flight to CR. try cabo if you are also looking for good nightlife and activities, diving's pretty good there too.

why don't Senegal? You can find different kind of waves and still warm water. Life is not expensive and people are friendly. I live there, so i can help you!

hey,
were are you flying out of? From LA for example you can find great flights with Copa airlines to Ecuador. They dont charge a fortune to bring a board bag either. The prices for a ticket is usually $480 +$75 dollars i think for the board bag (most other airlines charge $100+). Ecuador has really warm water compared to Peru were you will need a wetsuit..
the best months to surf in ecuador are nov-april, january is prob THE best month..the coast of ecuador get's hit by both north and south swells. Everything is pretty cheap in ecuador, for ex << URL removed >> offers; surfguide, car+gas, food (breakfast lunch dinner), accomodation straight on the beach in private beach villa, close to night life and other activities. everything for $85 per/day. To rent only a car in ecuador is $40 + gas and you wont know were to find the surf spots so a guide is recomended..
Cheers!

Hello!

I would like to suggest coming to Panama for your trip. You can find cheap direct flights ($400-500) from LA and 1 stop flights from pretty much any city in the U.S.
We offer all inclusive surf packages that include transportation, lodging, and meals for under $1,000/person for 7 nights. Tours are private and a local surfer guide will escort you and your crew to all the best know and lesser known (Secret, shhhh...) spots on the Pacific and Atlantis coasts.
In January, the Atlantic is going off but Pacific offers offshore winds all day! With the shortest distance between the two coasts, you can find good waves on both.

I think you should be looking at the following destinations: Caribbean (Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Barbados and Puerto Rico), Nicaragua, Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, perhaps Morocco (good waves this time of year too), Senegal, Sri Lanka all these are possibles or why not try a trip the Canary Islands off of Africa (Spanish) they have great surf in January.

Good luck, I think you will find lots of companies that can help you out... lots of advice out there. Stay stoked and ride one for us too!

Aloha,

Hi marta, are you still living in Senegal?
May you help me? Which are the main spots and where I can find cheap accommodation? We would like to leave in 5, we are all students and our budget is not so high. There is a place cheap where we can stay and rent our equipment?
Thanks
Lucia
