Just thought I'd share my recent trip to Portugal with you guys. Been there a couple of times but this time I went to the Alentejo region (few hours south of Lisbon) and i reckon its got the best bits of the trips I've had to the Algarve and Peniche etc all rolled into one...
The weather was hot and sunny and the sea was nice and warm (like 20c plus - even though I did see some Portuguese wearing hoods and gloves...)
The waves were perfect every day and apparently it wasn't even a particularly good swell compared to what they normally get.
But the best bit was how cheap it was - your could have a three course meal for two with wine, beers etc and the most we paid was 20euros. And you could get a bag of meat for the bbq for like 8euros that would last you days.
Stayed in Vila Nova de Milfontes which is a nice little town and stayed on the outskirts of the town in the PigDog Surf House, which has little apartments and bunk rooms for way cheaper than I've seen anywhere else and it was a really cool place...
Anyway, you've probably got the idea now that I would recommend it to anyone- learner or expert surfer!
