Postby SfrMatt » Sat Jan 16, 2010 10:19 pm

Hey all,
Just been told I'm jetting off to Lanzarote in Easter. I had a quick browse on the internet and found that there is some good surfing companies to hire some boards off (can't take my own :(). But I was wondering what the surfs like out there, seems pretty good from what I've seen, any of you guys surfed out there?

“It was really brilliant! I think it helps to give women confidence in a sport that is generally seen as a male thing. The instructors were very good at making them feel safe in the water too. I think five days in a warm, sunny, safe environment really helps to built your confidence. Lanzarote was also an interesting place to visit when ”

oh yes, great surf on Lanzarote, try Famara beach on the north west of the island for some standard beach waves, then move south down the west coast for one of the many reef waves, some really heavy ones too. if winds are on shore on that side try driving around the ridge (where people frequently jump off with various flying contraptions) and you will find another beach on the north east side, then there are more reefs as you travel down that side, then more (less consistent) beach waves. :surfing: enjoy

There are great surf spots in Lanzarote! Famara beach is a very commercial beach break, all the surf school operate from there! I know, I used to work for one! If you need to rent a board, check out the Calima surf school across from Famara beach. If not there are a couple of good surf shops in that general area that could accommodate you! Check out La Santa and some of the other spots in that area! If there is too much crowd, you head to north side of the island. La Canterla beach is never crowed and is a decent break! It is very close to port where the ferry leaves to La Graciosa.
I hope this was helpful? If you have anymore questions feel free contact me at triridadandtobagosurfexp.com
