After a really nice summer with good waves, the main surf season started and we were blessed with superb surfing conditions in November and December. Due to the reason that we are having an El Nino year, plenty of North / North East swells are hitting the North Coast and creating consistent and good surf here at Playa Encuentro. The last two weeks waves have been always overhead and some of the days were really epic. There hasn´t been wind since more then three weeks nearly, so the surf was on all day and we also had plenty of nice sunset sessions. After a nice morning session at Playa Encuentro, we were heading to some beautiful spots along the North Coast and scored some of the best waves with hardly any other surfers around. This morning was the first day with small waves but the next swell is already on the way and supposed to come tomorrow morning. Those who are looking for a nice surf trip in warm water, surrounded by beautiful nature and with less crowds then the common surf destinations, should definitely consider the D.R.. The main surf season usually lasts until end of April and I am sure we will have plenty amazing days coming up. The airport Puerto Plata (POP) is only 20min away from Playa Encuentro and you can find cheap deals from the US, Canada and Europe.
