half french half american, I'm new in the LA area and I'm looking for some tips.
I surf since a long time, but I'm not a pro surfer. I'm not looking for a perfect surfplace, but an easy going surf place, not so crowded... is it possible to find in south california ?

If in LA, I think Redondo Beach is all right. Or for better option, drive for 2 hours to San Diego, It's much better than LA area. Or go about 15 minutes further of San Diego to La Jolla. Nice beach and fun crowds too.

How far are you willing to drive? Of course, part of the fun of surfing is discovery, you have a bunch of breaks within 1/2 an hour to 45 minutes from L.A., more north towards Santa Monica and the county line and south towards Orange County and San Diego.
I'm not familiar enough with L.A. to help you with crowds, hope someone on this forum can help you with that.

thanks for the tips, I did some trip around, and I founded good place... there a rule, 'if you have to walk, and then paddle, and no sand on the beach, that's the good spot'. That's the way it is in palos verdes, at the cove, no chicks to attract guys, no cars, no show off... cool people there !!!
