Surf in San Sebastian, Spain

Hey Everyone!

I will be in San Sebastian this coming summer from the end of May till the end of June studying Spanish. I have tried searching for more information online but I just haven't been able to find much of anything. Basically, I am just looking for any tips and info that you might have about that area- especially concerning the surf (duh :D)... I was planning on bringing a 7'6 or a 7'8 (haven't bought yet) with me. However, I was debating whether it would be best to just buy one there (prices?) and have a great souvenier to take home with me...

Any input would be great because at this point, I've got close to nothing! Thank you so, so much.
Take care.

Try Pukas - they have a surf shop and school opposite la zurriola beach (the surf beach in San Seb). Try < url removed > also they are in San Sebastian and Zarautz. If you are there for one month you should buy a board - maybe strike a deal with pukas, test some first and then buy. Its a great area for surf. Zarautz is only 20 mins away and you have lots of spots up towards Hossegor in France. You;ll have a great time dude

Second hand board will cost between 250 to 450 Euros and you can sell it easily by end of June in French surf shop just before the Summer holidays.

Hey! Thanks for the replies... its definitely getting me excited for the summer! Do you think a 7'6 will be appropriate for the surf there? ....I read somewhere that new boards are fairly cheap in Spain compared to the US. I don't know if thats true but where could I go to find a decent priced one? I'm not gonna have a lot of money to spend but if I am going to surf after school everyday I probably want to buy- not rent.

Also, I was gonna try and go to Portugal one weekend when I have a chance.... is it easy to use transportation with boards? If not I am sure there are plenty of places to rent there right?!

Take it easy <3
