Newquay August (Boardmasters weekend)

Postby jonogoldsack » Tue Jul 28, 2009 4:51 pm

Hey all

Heading down to Boardmasters next weekend with my girlfriend.. first time I have been to Newquay over this weekend, can any one recommend some beaches for me to try out with my girlfriend? Both beginners but I have my own board and we dont require lessons just somewhere a bit quiet to catch some waves. Imagine everywhere will be really busy over this weekend?

Thanks

Jono

hey jono
i was down in newquay for the run to the sun last year and had the same problem. the place i found which was beginner friendly was called whipsiderry bay. its very close to the trevelgue holiday park and there is a path leading down by the cross road leading to trevelgue. its a bit of a steep climb down the stairs and only surfable at low tide otherwise you'll be on the rocks but on the busiest day there was only 5 or 6 of us there.
try that out, its not the best spot but atleast its quiet.

cheers dude

I only just got the reply so im back from newquay now, we stayed in Holywell Bay at "Cottage Farm Touring park" can recommend to anyone looking for somewhere cheap but nice to camp. We were very close to both Holywell Bay, Crantock and Polly Joke.. we surfed at both Holywell Bay and Crantock both very nice beaches and good waves. Was really good weekend for both chilling and surfing.. oh and boardmasters was amazing for anyone who hasnt been before!!
