Hi

Im thinking of going on a surf trip somewhere after i finish uni next year, probably around june/july possibly august for a couple of weeks and as ill be going alone was thinking of going with tour operator. I was wandering if anyone can recommend any that are worth travelling with? at the moment im thinking of going somewhere in Indo, im technically still at beginner level so dont want anything to advanced but ideally a trip i could go on for a couple of weeks.

Thanks
Simon

When you say travel operator, do you mean like a personal tour guide?

Yeah, that surfing camp has a good reputation. You can look for more surf camps in Bali, but be careful and please be picky as I have heard not fun stories. I think Quicksilver does that too. They actually have their own ship/boat where they go on it for a few days to find surf spots.

Have you thought about New Zealand? I was there at the beginning of the year and used these guys to plan my trip http://www.freespirittravelnz.com. They recommended some awesome beginner breaks and some surf schools too & they even booked everything for me. They're not surf specialists, but seemed to know what they were on about.

The breaks were heaps quieter than in the UK, and the locals real friendly and keen to point you in the right direction. Raglan is a must!

It's worth the extra effort of getting there....and there's heaps of other opportunities for a bit of an adrenaline buzz

I have heard good things about Errant Surf travel company. Seems to be run by a professional team of guys who know their stuff.
They have a decent website with more info.

Puerto Rico is where its at right now. Costa is too crowded and crime has gone way up in the last few years. South america is cool but water gets cold later on in the year. You aint taking a vacation to wear a wet suit are you ? Also you can drive Puerto Rico in a full day leading to all kinds of breaks and skill lvls, the better you get the more progressive your surfing can become. I dont know exactly what it is you are looking for in your post. I can only recommend them since Ive been to Puerto Rico a bunch of times and everytime I go I book them, never regretted it either, awesome people.

Also the chicks in Puerto Rico are no joke and are extremely hot, what they have won a record 6 miss universe titles or something like that ? you might not want to come back lol bro, you have been warned.

Hi, I have heard good things about Southern Surfer Travel Co. I think they are fairly new, but my mate used them and they had the cheapest surf charter and a heap of fishing too. It was budget but the pics he showed looked awesome. Waves all to themselves, which is what its all about. They operate out of the Mentawai's Indonesia. Ive never been myself but hope to by the end of the season. Will let you know when I get back.

Check out http://www.surfsimply.com - they have a surf resort in Costa Rica - once you touch down you wont have to stress about anything....i reckon the best place to go at your skill level. They have heaps of videos on youtube. if i was you i would go there. You'll learn tons and become a better surfer. DO IT!
