Wetsuit / Rash vest

Morning all

My husband and I am thinking of taking some surfing lessons in Morocco (where it'll be VERY hot), so I don't really want to spend all my time in a wetsuit. Wanna be able to catch a tan as well as learn to surf....

Do you have to wear a wetsuit/rash vest, or would I be able to get away with a bikini and board shorts only?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Many thanks!

hey,
if you haven't surfed before i'd recommend wearing a rashvest; otherwise you'll probably find that your chest becomes sore real quick from rubbing against the wax on the board (especially if it has sand in it!). wudn't worry too much about the tan! a 2 hour lesson in the water, and then the rest of the day lazing on the beach! :)
peace

Ok, thanks for this. Can you recommend which one to get or would anyone do - really showing my ignorance here, aren't I? :-)

personally, i'd go for a longsleved with UV protection (but i burn real easy). if u want to get some tan on those arms then u can get a sleeveless rashvest just to protect your chest. I wouldn't worry too much about the make of it; as long as its a good tight fit, thick and stretchy it'll do fine.
I tend to go through rash vests fairly frequently because of the wear it gets, so you don't want to be spending too much! (especially if you are only going to use it once in a bluemoon!)
Peace

You don't absolutely need a rash vest - I always thought they were more to prevent rash from a wetsuit rubbing. Bikini and Shorts would be fine. However, do be careful because the sea is a massive sun trap and you will tan/ burn much quicker than you would on the beach. Just ask any of my work colleagues who have been laughing at my face today!!
