Hi all,

Been absent for a bit but would like your input please.

My boyfriend has an end date for his job now - looking at sept. With only one income it'll be time to batten down the hatches and prepare for financial difficulties...so we're looking to go on a nice surfing holiday  - Keeping life in perspective and all that

He wont be working but i'll only have 2 weeks. My thinking is that Europe is usually good for that time of year and taking the car will be handy. But, usually when I have time off the surf goes flat/blown out so I would perhaps like a nice climate than Europe in Oct and I cant help thinking I want to go a little further afield. Mr Sar isnt a fan of camping for more than a few days so it wouldnt be that cheap anyways. I tried selling the '...but free camping....we can be like Ray Mears and have an adventure......and meet lots of weird and wonderful people...and campfires...and not have to shower...it'll be great!!' all to no avail.

My research hasnt turned up much and my imagination is pretty poor so can you help me with some idea's?
Prerequisites: flushing toilets, safe country, roof overhead - we're not experienced travellers (erm or surfers – that would be an important thing too I guess)

Some rough idea's and costs would be good. Feel free to tell me if I’m getting ahead of myself and should stick to the beachies of Europe….then make my decision for me of where I should go :D Ive got all the guidebooks but cant decide. I know a little french and learning spanish.

Cheers
Sar

Bali.

Accomodation is bugger all if you book it when you get there, and avoid western style hotels.

Epic waves, easy enough to get to other bits of indo, and an interesting place to check out.

my giddy excitment has been reigned in a little :(

Will have to look and the financial situation closer to the time but I like the idea of Bali, sure its cheap but the flights look pricey to my current bank balance. Morrocco Im not so keen on, it's one of the few destinations Ive already been to - though its probably changed in the last 10 years and I wasnt surfing at the time.

At the moment its looking like a european coastal road trip with the 'just incase tent' in the boot which will allow freedom to hotfoot it out of anywhere we're not really enjoying. We got stuck in not so great places in Oz cos we prebooked everything for the whole month that we were there - this is something I want to avoid, but with Mr Sars prerequisites it's not so easy.

A lot of places to stay in france seem to close down in sept, is this really the case?
