you know where abouts you'll be staying? theres waves on the full coast. more consistent in west wales through to south wales with north wales having waves just slightly less regularly. aprils not a bad month for surfing with it being ok consistency but still cold water probably a 5/3 with boots and gloves should be ok without a hood depending on how you like the cold.

would recommend surfing in the gower, won't give away any spots but some awesome reefs to be found without too much hassle. in west wales there are also some good reefs and beaches. basically you should get waves no matter where you are.

happy surfing

depends where you are brother. i'll second Sillysausage and recommend the Gower - had some awesome waves there the last year. if you're on the south i'd go west and head to Pembrokeshire - Freshwater West is pretty exposed and hosts some heavy waves on the right day. I reckon you'll be ok without gloves and a hood in April, although this winter has been the coldest ive known so the low sea temperature may linger for longer this year.

Stay in snapper!!!!

I have been surfing wales for 15 years and there is nothing with aussie power here. The pics you see on the net are the pics of the best days of the year. i am lucky if i can find a 2ft offshore wave once every 2 weeks.

All the info you need is on "wanna surf" .com

Wales in a nut shell:

South - Good reefs good beeaches, most consistant but further to travel around
Mid - Nice boulder reefs, some beaches, feck all shelter from onshore winds
North - Classic mix of everything but can be very fickle. to be fair anything between June-Aug just don't bother.

yea agree with papaw, although all the beach breaks in wales pretty much are weak, reefs have slightly more power

you're obviously not looking in the right places then. this winter has been pretty consistant.
