Surfing in Adelaide

Hey all,

Moving to Adelaide in a month and was considering learning how to surf!

May as well, I'll be there undertaking a course for the next 2 years and surrounded by awesome beaches.

Such a prisoner I shall be  :P

Which school or instructor would one recommend for someone on a student budget like me, who is keen to learn? I'm also a 25-year-old female so without sounding frank, I hope it's now the social norm for both genders to take part in surfing (well I assume it is, as a good friend of mine has a younger sister who competes).

Cheers x

I see a company called Surf and Sun doing lessons down at middleton every weekend, and there seems to be at least as many chicks as guys in the classes. And I think they won a national tourism award recently. Ive seen lots of flyers in surf shops for Roxy-learn-to-surf days for girls only as well. And I think Surfing SA, the main sort of organising and accreditation body for surfing, do lessons as well, they maybe even have girls-only stuff on.

And there are 2 distinct areas to surf here anyway. West of Victor Harbour for the more experienced and East of Victor Harbour for the less experienced and the longboarders, so you'll rarely feel hassled. Good luck.
