Surfing Waves

Hi! Just wanted to ask a question regarding Ryanair's baggage policy. I saw on their FAQ that the fees which apply are located here: http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/faqs.php?sect=CHARGES (£25 per way, which isn't too bad..)

So, my quick question is if anybody here has brought their surfboards with RyanAir before (for example to Biarritz)? And if so, did it arrive in one piece? Any hazzle from the check-in or anything (considering their #1 priority is saving as much time as possible)?

Sorry about the boring question, but just wanted some feedback on this; considering some of my surfing buddies were really negative to flying with RyanAir, as they "didnt handle surfboards properly"

they re no better or no worse than others.

Just be sure to wrp your board well.. ie in clothes/towels/bubble wrap etc inside your board back.
Take off the fins (if you can) if not then get some polystyrene packing and cut it in block so it fits over your fins to provide support.

Easyjet only charge £15 each way for 'sports equipment'

Successfully carried my Balsa Wood 9'2" Longboard back from Ecuador with LAN and Iberia to London Heathrow, but Ryanair made matchwood out of it flying from Stanstead to Knock - West of Ireland.
