Biking with a board?

I just bought a board rack for my bike as I live too far away (and uphill from the ocean) to bike with my board under my arm.

Any tips on riding with a side rack?

i was thinking of getting one.. but i realised that when i turn then i might hit it on a sign post or something :( so.. i think you should just watch out for fire hydrants, trees?, poles, etc

Yea, I plan on going REAL slow and being very careful. Unfortunately this is pretty much my only option of getting to the waves since I sold my car.

"F" the side rack, get a back mount sits inline with tire's and has different angles to set board stays outa the way more. Yes you still have to be carefull but it's no problem you can allso look into a good backpack type sling they hold yer gear and board piggyback and saves a grip of energy(got a couple of those for the down the cliff's trail trips and long trail walks) believe me when I tell ya they are life or should I say arm savers.
The outher thing about the pack/sling type is that you can adjust your board and still ride a bike ( best of both worlds) they work with long and short ( just gotta remember how much is stickin above your head !!!!)

yea, I was thinking of getting one of those, but it stickin over my head just seemed kinda strange. I guess one things for sure. Everyone would be able to spot me coming from a mile away!

If the side rack isn't feeling right to me, I'll definitely follow your tip and try out one of those.

Yea, I saw those ones, but they are only for shortboards, the side racks can fit both long and short.
