ok I actually live in toulouse, I moved here from cheltenham, but I`m Irish,

I spent 6 weeks in hossegor last year, just back from 4 weeks there, there most weekends, If ya need info and I can help I will, legally you can free camp on 90% of the streets around hossegor, however you are limited to camp for 1 night only on each street, however there is a spider web on street to park on.
I save the streets clossest to the plage on the nights I`m going for a drink, fill up on cheap beer fron the supermarkets before you go out, drinking out is expensive, when the pubs close the clubs are normally expensive to get in and a pint is €10. be sure to check out dicks sand bar and also the belgium bar in the corner xxxxx does great beers with the strongest being 14%
If you go to the tourist office get a map and mark down the date and street you park on each night, further north from hossegor the surf is better unless its big normally. Seinnosse les bourdaines is normally pretty good and be sure to pop into cream cafe especily on wednesday night as the music is normally really good.
but hey dont forget to surf between partying, early morning before the wind changes is normally best and the gret lase night surfs when you come out of the water at 10,50 and its to dark to see the number on the lock safe you van keys are in.

stampee, im a little confused, i was in bidart for a week in august years ago and remember great waves, but the forecasts and seasonal trends in summer on magic seaweed always seem crap, yet the eyeball surf report has decent waves, what are the waves generally like in summer? would there be much of a variation as you move down the coast?

Was in hossegor last august and mate girlfriend use to send us magic seaweed updates and was generally pretty acurate, swell hits earlier than predicted, I had 3 day in 4 weeks that it wasnt worth getting wet, when its small drag out the longboard, it was 4 foot and barreling on last tuesday I got a txt from my mate, I was in work in toulouse at the time, damn, Wave generally ok in the summer, best early and late surfs avoiding the crowds and getting it while its offshore. best wave generally early morning, not much of an expert on much souther, surfed cavaliers and cappretton, cavaliers holds up well when its messy, and there a nice sandbank that works well for about 1.5 hours around mid tide but high tide is rubbish, not sure if any of this helps, september is a much nicer time to surf seinosse and ya get less grief from the cops in your vanning it

thanks dave, v helpful, yeah i think i might head out for the first week sept to biarritz, its just over here 2 stars or 3 feet at 9 secs or whatever it might be over there wouldnt normally produce in my experience rideable waves here in ireland, i suppose its just differant down there?
